Dry skin patches can develop in different regions of the body and face. If you are having dry skin patches on the arms and the legs then most likely you may be suffering from dermatitis or eczema. Eczema is a common skin problem that is characterised by inflammation or a patch on the skin that is itchy and irritating. Dermatitis usually occurs when a skin allergen or an irritant comes in direct contact with the skin.
The irritant can be of any type such as fake jewellery, skin care products or an artificial nail. Some of the common symptoms include swelling, redness, pain, wheal and blisters. Dermatitis can be life threatening if they are not taken proper care in the beginning. If the skin is continuously exposed to various irritants then dermatitis can be chronic. They most commonly affect young children and infants but are also seen in adults these days.
